COVID19 Updated Guidance

Sept 2022

WHEN TO STAY HOME:

The New Jersey Department of Health recommends that students with the following symptoms or combination of symptoms be promptly isolated from others and excluded from school:

PLEASE STAY HOME AND NOTIFY YOUR NURSE IF YOUR CHILD HAS:

At least two of the following symptoms: fever (measure or subjective) chills rigors (shivers) myalgia (muscle aches) headache sore throat nausea, vomiting, diarrhea fatigue congestion runny nose
OR
At least one of the following symptoms:
cough
shortness of breath
difficulty breathing
new olfactory disorder or new taste disorder

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION TO RETURN TO SCHOOL IF SYMPTOMS:

A medically supervised  negative  COVID19  PCR test or Rapid Antigen test is required to return to school for symptomatic individuals, even with an alternate diagnosis such as a positive strep or influenza swab.  This requirement for testing is for all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status.
We can not accept home tests at this time to rule out COVID19.

Please notify the school nurse office if your child is exhibiting Covid-19 compatible symptoms.

IF COVID19 POSITIVE:

* Please notify your school Nurse

* Student will need to remain home for 5 days from symptom onset (symptom onset is considered day “0”)

* Days 6-10: Students may return ONLY if no symptoms and fever free for 24 hours.  They must wear a well fitted mask at all time, indoor and outdoors, during this time frame while at school.

* Regardless of immunization status of other family members, if possible, those who are COVID 19 positive should be isolated from others in the household, if possible, for the full 10 days from symptom onset.  A close contact continues to be defined as being within 6ft for 15 or more cumulative minutes within 24 hours.  Those who test positive are contagious 2 days prior to symptom onset or 2 days prior to test date when there are no symptoms.
***** Please discuss this with your child and notify those who may have had close contact during this time frame.

EXPOSURE TO COVID19
* Those who had close contact, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a well fitted mask for 10 days from the date of last contact and monitor for symptoms.   * If symptomatic, they should test for Covid19.  If no symptoms develop, it is recommended they test 5 days after their exposure. * Please notify your school nurse

Our goal is to keep our students healthy and safe!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!
